Peppermint Oreo Balls

These are the ultimate holiday cookie! Made with Oreo cookies and cream cheese, dipped in melted chocolate and topped with crushed candy canes, these Peppermint Oreo Balls are sure to be a forever favorite.

Ingredients

  • 36 Oreo cookies
  • 8 ounces plain cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 teaspoon peppermint or mint extract, divided
  • 8 ounces melting white chocolate
  • 8 ounces melting milk chocolate
  • Crushed candy canes

Instructions

  1. Place whole cookies in food processor or blender and pulse to fine crumbles; can also place cookies in a freezer bag, cover with kitchen towel, and crush cookies using a rolling pin until fine crumbles

  2. Using stand or handheld mixer, cream together 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract and cream cheese in large mixing bowl

  3. Add cookie crumbles to cream cheese; mix until well combined

  4. Make 1 inch cookie balls using a small scoop or spoon and place on lined baking sheet

  5. Place cookies in freezer, at least 20 minutes

  6. Melt white and milk chocolate in separate bowls per package directions

  7. (Optional) If stronger peppermint flavor desired, add 1/4 teaspoon mint to each bowl of melted white and milk chocolate

  8. Remove cookie balls from freezer and dip 1/2 into melted white chocolate and 1/2 into melted milk chocolate; drop ball into melted chocolate, cover completely and remove with fork allowing excess chocolate to drip off. Use knife to slide off fork onto lined baking sheet.

  9. Top each cookie with crushed candy canes before chocolate sets

  10. Refrigerate up to an hour allowing chocolate to set before serving

  11. Store in sealed container in refrigerator
